Transnational
Research

In Loco's Transnational Research component involves training 40 refugee researchers (RRs) in a qualitative research methods, as well as data collection and analysis to run peer-to-peer research. Coordinated by University College Dublin, academic researchers will develop guidelines to shape the research design and deliver training on research methodology, covering how to create interview questions, select interviewees, master interview techniques, and analyse data.

The RRs will apply this training to conduct 200 interviews with newcomers (migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, etc.) who have experienced integration practices in at least two European countries. They will receive ongoing support from In Loco’s academic committee, as well as an in-person workshop in Lisbon to discuss findings.

By the end of the project, the network of RRs and interviewees who contributed to the research will be formalised into New European Welcome (NEW) – a refugee-led Advocacy & Research Think Tank in Brussels. Informed by the research findings, NEW will lead advocacy and lobbying efforts for policy change at the EU level.
